Fox News host SHUTS DOWN supporter of legalised marijuana – ‘You’re DENYING reality!’

Mason Tvert, a spokesman for the Marijuana Policy Project, has called for the legalisation of marijuana after bordering country Canada legalised the substance for recreational purposes this week.

The Fox News reporter began the segment and said: “Young Canadians increasingly can’t afford to buy homes or start families or even have cars. More and more of them are stuck living at home with their parents whom they will make less than as they get older.

“These are huge problems and no one is even thinking about how to fix them. but at least young people will be too high to notice. Maybe they won’t complain.”

In response, Mr Tvert said it is an “absurd motion” to claim young people would be “too high to notice” the issues with the economy because it has been associated with “young people revolting”.

He added: “Marijuana became popular in the 60s during the anti-war movement.”

The Fox New host smirked and said: “Do you smoke a lot of weed, Mason? Come on now. I grew up in California. I know what marijuana is. It does not make you more likely to do anything.”

Mr Tvert claimed the comments were simply a “foolish stereotype” but Tucker insisted it is “reality”.

He added: “I’m not arguing it is a problem for people to smoke marijuana occasionally. I don’t think it is. I’m not a prohibitionist by temperament at all and I’m not a neopuritan unlike everyone on the left. I’m just saying, if you make it legal many more young people will use it much more often.”

The Fox News host laughed as the marijuana supporter said: “That’s not what we are seeing.”

The furious row continued to escalate when Carlson claimed cannabis has “already been decriminalised in the US” but warned legalising it would result in big companies profiting off the law change.

Mr Tvert claimed the Fox News presenter was “denying the facts”.

But Mr Tucker fired back and said: “You’re denying reality.”

When the campaigner said the TV host’s comments were a “conspiracy to dumb down America”, Mr Tucker blasted: “It’s a conspiracy because people like you can get rich from selling it.

“Let’s be honest. This is big corporations trying to get rich from getting kids to smoke more weed. And I’m sure you’ve got a piece of it. Don’t give me the personal freedom garbage. This is a corporation trying to profit.”

In response, Mr Tvert shouted: “Do you think alcohol should be illegal?”

Before running out of time, Tucker said “of course I don’t” because “we are already here”.

US border agents have said they will remain strict and enforce US federal law after Canada legalised the use of marijuana for recreational purposes, as officials expressed concern surrounding drug smuggling.

US Customs and Border Protection officials said: “Although medical and recreational marijuana may be legal in some US States and Canada, the sale, possession, production and distribution of marijuana all remain illegal under US federal law.”

Residents in Michigan will soon vote in a ballot to legalise marijuana in October, shortly after Canada does so officially.

It is expected marijuana will be legalised in the US state, meaning the drug will be legal both sides of the US-Canada border.

Nine US states currently permit the recreational use of marijuana, with pressure growing for more states to follow suit.

A further 31 states allow the medicinal use of cannabis.
