Mate 20 vs Nintendo Switch: SHOCK Huawei claims spell trouble for Nintendo portable

Huawei has made a shock claim about its new Mate 20 X smartphone.

Huawei unveiled the Mate 20 X during a recent conference attended by Express Online.

The new smartphone features a mammoth 7.2-inch OLED display with a 1080p resolution.

It’s also rocking a 5,000mAh battery, which it claims supports up to 23 hours of video playback. That’s on top of a “super bass stereo system” with Dolby Atmos functionality.

Because of its impressive specs, Huawei claims the Mate 20 X is a better portable game machine than the Nintendo Switch.

Huawei points towards the superior screen size and battery life as proof that its new smartphone is better gaming device than the Switch.

Undocked, the Switch has a 6.2-inch 720p LCD screen. The Mate 20 X battery, meanwhile, is said to last twice as long as the Switch battery when playing games.

Huawei will launch the phone alongside its “perfectly-matched Gamepad”, which can be attached to the top of the phone.

But while the Mate 20 X may have superior specs, Nintendo isn’t likely to be too worried by the device.

The Nintendo Switch has sold extremely well since launching in 2017, selling over 20 million units to date.

It also boasts an exceptional games lineup, which includes the likes of Super Mario Odyssey and Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

The Huawei Mate 20 X comes with an €899 price tag and will be available from October 26.

The phone will have 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and even supports the Huawei M-Pen stylus.

Thankfully, the powerhouse of a phone also comes with a vapour cooling chamber, which the firm insists will keep it cool during intense usage.
