Fortnite update 6.1 DELAY: Quad Launcher and new patch release date mystery

update 6.1 was expected to be rolled out by Epic Games today but so far there’s been no word from the Battle Royale makers on when it’s coming.

Major Fortnite updates launch on a fortnightly basis, with content updates launched the week inbetween.

And typically these big Fortnite patches are released every Tuesday, with one of these updates expected this week.

Fans had been expecting the upcoming Fortnite 6.1 update to be released today but there’s been no word so far on when the patch is coming.

With it looking increasingly possible Fortnite update 6.1 might not release at all today, the most likely next release date is tomorrow.

Last week’s Fortnite content update arrived on a Wednesday so it could be Fortnite update 6.1 is coming exactly a week after that.

It’s likely that Epic Games will give an update on Fortnite update 6.1 – and any server downtime that will come with it – today.

What we do know for certain is that Fortnite update 6.1 should be bringing with it a brand new weapon.

When players log into Battle Royale right now they’re being teased about a brand new weapon coming.

This weapon is the Quad Launcher which is being teased alongside this description: “Quickly fire up to 4 rockets to blanket an area with explosive damage.”

Elsewhere the PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and iOS update looks like it will make one or two fixes that were absent from last week’s content patch.

This includes a fix for a problem in which an unrendered Starter Island appears during the loading screen.

Epic explains more on Trello: “While loading in, players may notice an unrendered version of the Starter Island appear for a short time, then be replaced with the loading screen again until the map fully renders.”

Fortunately for fans, the issue will be fixed in the next Fortnite release.

Elsewhere, Epic has eliminated instances of the floating island appearing in the wrong location on the mini-map.

This will also be included in the next Fortnite update on PS4, Xbox One, PC, iOS and Nintendo Switch.

Audio for player eliminations being the same audio used for rotating structures has also been fixed, according to the Fortnite Trello.
