That is the honest verdict of ESPN pundit Max Kellerman.
After two years away from the Octagon, McGregor returned last Saturday night for UFC 229 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
However, McGregor was left to lick his wounds after Khabib forced him to tap out with a neck crank in the fourth round.
There were violent scenes after the fight, as Khabib leapt over the Octagon and threw some punches at Dillon Danis – a Bellator welterweight – who trains with McGregor.
Khabib, who had his purse withheld pending an investigation, was escorted out of the arena by police officers.

Despite McGregor’s brave performance, Kellerman believes the Irishman should shelve plans of a rematch with Khabib.
He said: “If you want to give Conor [McGregor] an actual chance to win, was he a lesser fighter when he was inactive?
“It’d be better if he was active.
“You’ve got to give Conor reps against a guy who looks like Khabib with his wrestling or grappling.
“It has to be someone who is going to take him down and try to ground and pound.
“It has to be someone in a lesser light than Khabib.”
However, fellow pundit Stephen A.Smith disagreed and reckons McGregor deserves a rematch.
He said: “Here’s the point I want to make about what I saw Saturday night.
“The reason why McGregor deserves a rematch, is not a matter of winning or losing.
“The question is whether potentially he could put forward a better showing? The answer is yes.
“McGregor talked the talk and a lot of smack.
“Although I thought he [McGregor] could possibly win, I knew if it was a grappling match, McGregor would have no chance.”
