Odell Beckham Jr: Giants star blasts team-mates after slow start to NFL season

The 25-year-old, who has recorded 31 receptions so far this season, but has yet to score a touchdown, was candid in his analysis of the Giants performances so far this year.

“A lot of it has to do with the energy that we don’t have, that we don’t bring every single day,” Beckham said.

“And you know me. I’m a passionate, energetic person. I always have to have that. If I don’t, it’s gonna be a problem for me.”

The wide receiver, who signed a $95 million contract in August, believes the team is lacking enthusiasm but is optimistic they won’t repeat the 3-13 record in 2017.

“We just need to play with some heart,” Beckham told ESPN’s Josina Anderson.

“We’re only 1-3, you know. The year we went 11-5, we were 2-3. We ended up being 2-3 after five games.

“So you never know when you can go on a run. It’s just a matter of when we gonna go on a run.”

Last season was a frustrating time for Beckham as he was limited to playing four games after suffering from an ankle injury.

Few would accuse him of not playing with heart and some would argue the round-one pick plays the game with too much emotion, but Beckham yet to reproduce his typical numbers.

The wideout has been critical of the team and quarterback Eli Manning.

“How come we can’t throw the ball for more than 20 yards?” Beckham said.

“How come we don’t attempt or try to throw the ball for more than 20 yards?

“Those are questions that we have to figure out, but for now I would say it’s our heart, it’s our energy.”
