Brett Kavanaugh wife: Who is Ashley Estes Kavanaugh? Is she standing by her husband?

On Friday, the US Brett Kavanaugh’s controversial Supreme Court nomination to a final vote.

Mr Kavanaugh – President Donald Trump’s pick for the prestigious role – has been investigated by the FBI for the past week over allegations of sexually assaulting a number of women.

Friday’s vote paved the way for one final vote to decide whether Mr Kavanaugh will be one of nine justices in the highest court in the US.

Massive protests erupted in Washington today, as public interest and the #Ibelieveher movement came out in support of Mr Kavanaugh’s accusers.

Who is his wife?

Texan Ashley Estes Kavanaugh is an American public official and former political aide.

She served as an assistant to George W. Bush from 1996 to 1999, during his tenure as Governor of Texas and his presidential campaign in 2000.

When Bush became president in 2001, Ashley took the role of Personal Secretary to the President and served in that position until 2004.

From 2005 to 2009, she was Director of Special Projects at the George W. Bush Presidential Foundation, and then media coordinator until 2010.

Now, she serves as town manager of the village of Chevy Chase Section Five, Maryland, a job she does mostly from home.

Ashley met Brett when they were both serving as stand in the White House West Wing – Brett was White House counsel.

They married in 2004, in a ceremony attended by President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush.

They have two daughters.

Is she standing by her husband?

The couple appeared side by side on Fox News last week.

Asked by Fox’s Martha MacCallum whether she doubted her husband she: “No. I mean, I know Brett — I’ve known him for 17 years.”

“He’s decent, he’s kind, he’s good,” she said.

“I know his heart.”

She said the allegations were “not at all characteristic” of his behaviour and she’d told their children to “just remember: you know your dad.”

She also made a thinly-veiled attack on the character of her husband’s accuser, .

“I don’t know what happened to her,” she said.

“I feel badly for her family.”
