OnePlus 6T looks set to miss out on a feature fans have been waiting for

OnePlus 6T is expected to build upon everything the OnePlus 6 did right while also introduce a litany of new features in its own right.

The OnePlus 6 was critically acclaimed and for that reason the OnePlus 6T is highly-anticipated.

In fact, Express.co.uk gave the OnePlus 6 a full five out of five stars in our review of the product back in June.

Technology Editor David Snelling said: “The OnePlus 6 is an incredible phone at an even more incredible price.

“It’s fast, looks great and has a very nice display which offers a brilliantly bright and sharp viewing experience.

“With the OnePlus 6 packing such a punch for under £500 the competition should be afraid…no…in fact, they should be absolutely terrified.”

The OnePlus 6T is expected to retain a similar design to the OnePlus 6 but the Chinese manufacturer has already confirmed the fingerprint scanner on the back of the device will be moved.

That is because the OnePlus 6T will flaunt a fingerprint reader under its display that will deliver a futuristic new method of unlocking.

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau recently detailed the work the Chinese firm put in to achieve such a feat.

He said: “We believe the best technology has to be meaningful; enabling you to perform day-to-day tasks with greater speed and convenience or empowering you to do things you’ve never done before.

“These are the parameters we use to evaluate all technology. We unlock our phones dozens of times a day, so the technology powering your unlocking experience must be reliable and efficient.

“Screen Unlock has been in development for a long time. We first tried to implement it on the OnePlus 5T. Early prototypes featured a 1st generation optical fingerprint module.

“We believe innovation is about pushing the limits of technology together with our users.

“This is the OnePlus way. Thank you for guiding us in creating an experience that is at once fast, intuitive, and convenient. I cannot wait for you to experience Screen Unlock on the OnePlus 6T!”

However, in a recent interview with CNET the CEO appeared to hint the forthcoming OnePlus 6T will not boast wireless charging capabilities.

Lau suggested such a move was made because wireless pads do not currently refill devices as quickly as OnePlus’ signature Dash Charging feature that currently requires a cable.

The CEO explained: “We’re working hard on this.

“When we get to the day that the wireless charging can get up to speed without the implication of heat that we expect, then I believe we can integrate the technology.”

Although the OnePlus 6T is not expected to come touting wireless charging, the phone has been predicted to come with a much smaller notch than on the OnePlus 6.

CNET previously declared the OnePlus 6T will launch this month and has a price “tentatively set” at $550 (£423.92).

If such a claim is true it surely will not be long before an official announcement about the product is made by OnePlus.
