Yet a major change to the contract offer to make the fight happen has been revealed.
Wilder faces Tyson Fury on December 1 looking to defend his WBC heavyweight strap.
That fight, which will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, was arranged after Wilder and Joshua’s teams failed to agree on terms for a unification bout.
In a protracted negotiation process over the summer, a he-said-she-said feud between AJ’s promoter, Hearn, and Wilder’s promoter, Shelly Finkel. It resulted in the fight not being made.
Finkel’s side criticised Hearn after Wilder himself offered Joshua a straight $50million for the fight.

Hearn, who deals with all of Joshua’s contract terms, says he asked to see proof of funds, which were ostensibly not made clear.
Further down the line, Hearn claims that Wilder’s team agreed to a contract that would land The Bronze Bomber around £15m, but negotiations once again fell through.
Hearn has booked Wembley Stadium for Joshua’s next fight on 13 April next year, but doesn’t want to wait until after the Wilder vs Fury showdown to organise an opponent.
The 39-year-old promoter is therefore still trying to arrange a deal with Wilder’s team, and claims to have changed a crucial contract term in hope of persuading Finkel.
Speaking to iFL TV about the term, Hearn said: “It’s a double rematch. They agreed to the terms in the first one, which is a one-way rematch.
“Then they came out and said: ‘Ah, it was a one-way rematch’.
“You f***ing agreed to it in writing! And then you go public and say: ‘Ah, it was ridiculous.’ You agreed to it!”
Crucially, this apparent contract would now mean that either fighter has the option to take a rematch – an option which Wilder didn’t have in the original offer.
“So this time, we put two fights in. But still, we can’t have a conversation,” Hearn fumed.
“We can’t even discuss a deal for the heavyweight world championship!”
Hearn and Finkel have both received a lot of criticism for their inability to negotiate with each other.
For the people sledging Hearn, the Englishman has a message: “People who moan on social media – f***ing smarten up. What more do you think we can do?”
