During a fundraising event at Trump International Hotel in Washington DC, Trump told attendees of the Protect the House PAS about his interactions with the Saudi king the previous year.
According to Washington Post columnist Josh Rogin, Trump described the king as being “right out of central casting”.
According to American dictionary Merriam-Webster, the phrase “central casting” is often interpreted as referring to “people stereotypical of their role in appearance, behaviour, or natured”.
Mr Rogin said: “Trump had seen then-President Barack Obama bow to the king and had no intention of doing the same.”
Trump, then, said the Saudi king had called him recently and asked the US to assist with a large, undisclosed military operation that was “probably highly gasified”.
The President said he told the king that Saudi Arabia would have to pay the $4billion (£3.06billion).
Trump reiterated his point during a rally in Southaven, Mississippi where he called on Saudi Arabia and other nations to pay more for their own defences.
He said: “We protect Saudi Arabia. Would you say they’re rich?
“And I love the King…King Salman, but I said, ‘King, we’re protecting you. You might not be there for two weeks without us. You have to pay for your military’.”
At the event, the US President also said the US and China might no longer be on friendly terms since his visit to Beijing in November 2017.
Trump also alleged the Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland “hates America”.
He apparently did not mention her by name but had been clearly talking about the Canadian negotiator.
Trump is also said to have added the European Union’s foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini “hates America” as well.
The President said it was a shame both women hate America because female leaders are often better at their jobs than their male counterparts.
The White House did not comment on these remarks, but said that “it was a highly successful night and the president had the crowd in great spirits”.
