How to live longer – the best diet plan to prevent prostate cancer and early death

Eating a healthy balanced diet – including at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day – could lower the risk of an early death, according to the NHS.

Regular exercise could also help to boost your lifespan. All UK adults should aim for at least 150 minutes of activity every week.

You could also increase your life expectancy and avoid an early death by making some diet changes.

Men could benefit from eating certain foods to lower their risk of prostate cancer, nutritionists have revealed.

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men, in the UK.

More than 10,000 people die from prostate cancer every year in the UK.

But, you could lower your risk of the condition by adding more soy products to your diet, revealed dietitian Juliette Kellow and nutritionist Dr Sarah Brewer.

Eating soya could lower the amount of prostate-specific antigens in the blood, they said.

Just two daily servings of soya could be enough to lower your prostate cancer risk, studies have claimed.

“Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men worldwide,” they said in their book ‘Eat Better Live Longer – Understand What Your Body Needs To Stay Healthy’.

“Most prostate cancers arise in the outer parts of the gland and as such have few if any symptoms, and are difficult to diagnose.

“Some studies show that the antioxidant lycopene may have a role in prevention.”

Eating more fish could also lower your chances of prostate cancer, scientists have claimed.

The fish, particularly oily fish, contains omega-3 fatty acids, which may help to prevent the disease.

Prostate cancer patients tend to have lower levels of zinc in their blood, added the nutritionists.

Eat more nuts and seeds to boost your intake of zinc, they said. Sunflower seeds have the highest amount of zinc.

Avocado, leafy green vegetables, tomatoes, and garlic could all help to ward off prostate cancer, the nutritionists said.

Similarly, steer clear of processed foods, meat, caffeine, alcohol, and spicy foods.

The best way to live a healthy life is to eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables every day, and to do plenty of exercise.

Regular exercise is a crucial aspect to improving overall health, and helping you to live longer.
