The latest trailer for the next film in the Harry Potter prequel series introduced us to Nagini’s human form, working as a shapeshifter at Circus Arcanus.
Now Fantastic Beasts The Crimes of Grindelwald takes place in late 1926, which fans will know is very close to Tom Riddle’s birth on New Years Eve that year.
With three films to go and the final one ending in 1945 – when Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald, winning the Elder Wand, and the year Voldemort left Hogwarts – there’s still plenty of time for the two to be formally introduced.
But the question is when did they meet and was Nagini still able to be in her human form?
A new theory on Muggle Net reckons Nagini will permanently transform into her snake form that same year, which will be seen in the fifth and final Fantastic Beasts film, due for release in November 2024.

Now Dumbledore revealed in the books: “Voldemort was still at least one Horcrux short of his goal of six when he entered [Harry’s] parents’ house with the intention of killing [Harry].
“[It was] “some years” [after Voldemort failed to kill Harry that] “he used Nagini to kill an old Muggle man, and it might then have occurred to him to turn her into his last Horcrux.”
The theorist reckons Voldemort found Nagini when he was hiding in his disembodied state in the forests of Albania at some point in the 1980s.
Fans will remember that in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire we learnt that Voldemort attempted to possess animals but the curse wouldn’t last as they would die from shock.
Now what if Nagini some how found her way to the forests of Albania where Voldemort realised she was a Maledictus, so could be possessed and made into a Horcrux without dying?
Perhaps after the Fantastic Beasts films finish JK Rowling will start penning another series of films that covers Voldemort’s rise and fall between 1945 and 1980.
While another option is we’ll see Nagini meet a young Tom Riddle in one of the later Fantastic Beasts films.
