Forget the P20 Pro – Latest leak may reveal the Huawei phone of your dreams

Huawei has already had huge success with its Huawei Pro Pro this year but it seems they are about to take things to another level.

The Chinese technology firm is expected to unveil its new Mate 20 Pro on October 16 and it looks set to be a phone watch out for.

We already know that the Mate 20 Pro will feature the new Kirin 980 processor with Huawei teasing this feature on its invite for the Mate keynote next month.

This 7nm chip is the fastest Huawei has ever made and should make the Mate 20 Pro one of the most powerful devices on the market.

In fact, Huawei says the Kirin 980 7nm process technology compared with the 10nm process, improves performance by 20 percent, power efficiency by 40 percent and the overall energy efficiency of the Kirin 980 increased by 58 percent.

Now a new leaked image from SlashLeaks shows what how impressive the Mate 20 Pro will look on the outside.

The images show a device with a huge display that, other than a small notch, covers the entire front of the phone.

This fully edge-to-edge screen is thought to be one of the biggest ever on a phone with reports suggesting Huawei will fit a 6.9-inch display into the glass and metal body.

Spin the Mate 20 Pro around and it appears fans will be treated to a triple camera setup and flash that have been placed in a square pattern.

Something else that is interesting about the rear of this phone is that there’s no sign of a fingerprint scanner.

The image in the leak shows a device inside a case but there’s no cut out for this popular security feature.

This could mean Huawei is planning to embed the scanner under the display or follow Apple with its exclusive use of facial recognition.

Along with these new photos, there are plenty of other rumours about the Mate 20 Pro including the fact it will feature a giant battery and wireless charging.

Although the current P20 Pro already includes a market-leading battery life it can’t be charged without wires – something Huawei could fix on this new flagship.

One final rumour suggests a new accessory is inbound with the Mate 20.

Images, posted by notable leaker Roland Quandt, show alleged press shots of the device accompanied by what appears to be a new pair of fully-wireless headphones from Huawei.

Quandt insisted the accessory is dubbed the “Huawei Freebuds 2 Pro” and look set to offer similar functionality to Apple’s popular AirPods.
