James quit his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers in the summer in favour of a move to the Lakers.
The 33-year-old penned a four-year contract in LA, with James set to team up with the Lakers’ young core.
Love is now Cleveland’s main man following James’ departure, which comes a year after Kyrie Irving left the Cavaliers.
Irving demanded to be traded last summer after it emerged he didn’t want to play alongside James, with the now-Lakers star getting all of the ball.
And five-time NBA All-Star Love has revealed he’s excited to play without James – and Irving – this season, claiming he’s ready to show his qualities and lead the Cavaliers.

“When you’re playing with two guys that really dominate the ball you have to find ways to sacrifice and fit in to where you are on the offence,” Love told ESPN’s Get Up!
“And defensively, you need to learn where you can help.
“It’s a never ending, always evolving, process but now with LeBron gone, I think we’ll see a lot of the sets that were in Minnesota as well as what Ty Lue has implemented over the last few years.
“I’m very excited. I’m going to be handling the ball a lot more, touching the ball a lot more.
“I’ve always said, whether LeBron or Kyrie were out of the game, I can catch the ball at the elbow and handle it.
“I don’t have to shoot the ball to be effective. I think my passing is often overlooked.
“I’m also looking to implement those leadership qualities as well.”
Love averaged 26 points per game in his final season with the Minnesota Timberwolves before joining Cleveland in 2014.
The 30-year-old, who won an NBA championship in 2016, is ready to regain that form this year.
James’ Lakers kick off the NBA season against the Portland Trail Blazers on October 19.
The three-time NBA champion is looking to reach his ninth consecutive NBA Finals this season.
