Virgin Media customers will get this big new feature TODAY as new 4K content launched

Virgin Media has its eyes on 4K and is determined to deliver a wide-range of programming that is available to view in the best resolution possible.

Last week the TV supplier announced it was launching a new new channel that will show every programme in 4K.

The Virgin TV Ultra HD channel will include a range of exclusive content in the form of documentaries, live music concerts and dramas.

The company’s newest channel will be available to Virgin TV Full House and VIP customers with a V6 set-top box today, Monday September 17.

Ahead of the launch Virgin Media’s Chief Digital Entertainment Officer, David Bouchier, said: “With the launch of Virgin TV Ultra HD we’re giving our customers the ultimate entertainment viewing experience with must-see shows in incredible, crystal-clear picture quality.

Although the channel is best viewed in lush 4K, the Virgin TV Ultra HD channel will still be available to any Virgin TV Full House and VIP customers that have a lower-resolution television.

And the firm is touting the series Start Up that features Martin Freeman in addition to House of Cards as compelling reasons to tune in.

The former of which will be broadcast for the first time on UK television when Virgin TV Ultra HD launches.

Other first-time arrivals include Shut Eye that casts Isabella Rosselini and The Art of More.

Virgin TV Ultra HD will be broadcast on channel 999.

It will run from prime-time until the early hours of the next morning.

However, it will go live at 8.20pm on its launch night tomorrow.

Content optimised for 4K viewing has grown exponentially as televisions touting the incredibly-high resolution have become more affordable.

And Britons are being treated to a variety of crisp programming with Sky recently announcing a host of new content is arriving in 4K.
