Sony PlayStation LineUp livestream COUNTDOWN: Tokyo Game Show news and how to watch

September 10 will see a new live stream event hosted by Sony in Japan ahead of the Tokyo Game Show.

The Sony PlayStation video show will last around an hour and feature footage from upcoming PS4 games.

The PlayStation LineUp Tour has been billed as an event “set in a vast universe that represents the world of PlayStation” and invites people watching it to “participate as members of a DualShock 4 spaceship’s crew and travel across various planets.”

What this means is anyone’s guess, but players can probably expect a lot of footage dedicated to games popular in the Japanese market.

The good news for fans hoping to watch the live stream in the west is that Sony has provided an English link for the press conference.

Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation Tokyo Game Show event will kick off around 10:30am in the UK, or 2:30am PST.

At least one new game is expected to be announced during the show that will help kick off this year’s Tokyo Game Show.

It’s unclear what the title will be, but it’s likely to be something based for the regional market.

When it comes to games we already know about, there’s a chance that footage from The Last of Us 2 may be shown, among other titles.

Ghost of Tsushima could be given a prominent spot, alongside games like Kingdom Hearts 3.

It has also been announced that Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding will be featured during the Tokyo Game Show.

“Kojima Productions is back at #TokyoGameShow2018, with a stage show on Sept 23 featuring Hideo Kojima and cast members of the Japanese version,” a message from the studio’s official Twitter page reads.

While that isn’t until later this month, it’s possible that a new trailer or some kind of fresh footage will be shown during today’s PlayStation Tour live stream.

There’s still a lot left to be revealed about Death Stranding, so a new trailer wouldn’t go amiss.

The PS4 exclusive remains shrouded mystery for the most part, although fans did get a big trailer during E3 2018.

Featuring Hollywood heavyweights Norman Reeds and Lea Seydoux, the new trailer showed off some actual gameplay, as well as some bizarre horror aspects we have come to expect from Kojima.

The trailer shows a considerable amount of Reeds walking across desolate and spectacular landscapes, carrying various luggage across mountains and through fjords.

Again we see the giant, hand-like footprints of the invisible, menacing creatures that are hunting Norman Reeds, as well as some gameplay showing Reedus avoiding some foetus-looking wisps that eventually grab and drag him down into the dirt.

The time-travelling, mind-bending sci-fi horror grabbed fans’ attention during the E3 conference despite not revealing a release date.
