Fantasy Premier League tips: Bonus point stars you need – Liverpool and Fulham targets

The Premier League has taken a back seat this weekend with the international break and the start of the inaugural UEFA Nations League.

However, Fantasy Premier League managers can’t afford to take their eye off the ball if they want to stay in touch with their mini-league rivals.

Injuries and form while on international duty will play a huge factor over the next few weeks of the season, so it’s up to bosses to know how their players are getting on.

Meanwhile, the break before GW5 is a great chance to assess your season so far and make any necessary changes – particularly regarding bonus point kings.

While goals and clean sheets are the bread and butter of fantasy football, FPL bonus points have the potential to turn a good score into a formidable haul.

With six points up for grabs every match, picking players who can scoop up the extras can give your total a healthy boost.

The official FPL game employs a detailed Bonus Points System (BPS) of statistical analysis, rewarding a whole range of achievements from each player as they build towards a final score at full-time.

For example, playing over 60 minutes earns six points in the BPS (as well as two overall points) while a key pass is awarded one, a successful tackle earns two and creating a big chance is worth three.

However, players also lose points for various indiscretions including a foul (-1), an own-goal (-6) and being shown a red card (-9).

There are a host of other instances where players can pick up and lose marks in the BPS, with the eventual top three scorers being awarded one, two and three bonus points respectively to add to their overall tally.

The rules tend to favour the full-backs of possession-based teams, but there are some exceptions with prolific goalscorers and heroic goalkeepers also being well rewarded.

players have been recording some huge BPS scores so far this season while new boys Fulham have also been shining with their brand of attractive football – but which players have the highest overall BPS totals so far in 2018/19?
