White House in meltdown after Trump hunts mole

The article claimed that Mr Trump’s unpredictability meant he could not be trusted with the immense power of the Presidency so the group were deliberately thwarting his whims.

Yesterday senior Trump officials rushed to pledge their loyalty.

Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats said it was “patently false” to claim he had written the piece.

A spokesman for Vice President Mike Pence said that he “puts his name on” expressions of his opinion.

And Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said: “It’s not mine”.

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi joked: “I guess by process of elimination we’ll come down to the butler.”

But Mr Trump was said to be “volcanic” with rage over the article and is said to feel that the only people he can trust are his children.
