Meghan Markle forgoes usual black suits for blue Jason Wu dress with Prince Harry

Meghan Markle, 37, joined her husband, Prince Harry, 33, in a stunning blue evening dress while at an event in London.

The royal chose a high-neck blue gown by Jason Wu which fell below her knees with matching jewelled shoes by Aquazzura, costing £640.

She chose the sleeveless gown along with a navy blue Dior clutch bag for a gala in the capital city.

It is a departure from her usual fashion choice as she has frequently been seen in a black suit.

Her look was completed with her dark hair curled over one shoulder.

While Meghan’s dress was bespoke by the Canadian designer, similar designs retail at £1,388 on the website.

It isn’t the first time she has chosen a Jason Wu gown; she also went for a sleeveless navy trench dress by the designer earlier this year.

She chose the £1,388 dress when stepping out with Kate Middleton, Prince William and Prince Harry at the Royal Foundation Forum in London.

Her blue gown is a departure from her latest looks which were all black, something that the Royal Family previously frowned upon.

It was an unspoken rule that black was only worn for mourning but it appears they have loosened the rules since Meghan joined the family.

Earlier this week, Meghan wore a black Altuzarra suit with a matching silk camisole for a chic ensemble.

Meghan joined Harry in London for the 100 Days to Peace gala, in support of charities for military veterans who face mental health challenges.

Taking place at Central Hall in Westminster, a number of events and performances will take place throughout the night.

The Royal Choral Society along with the Philharmonia Orchestra will play against the backdrop of Hefin Owen’s film of The Armed Man.

The evening marks the centenary of the First World War, with all proceeds going to a number of mental health charities.

Help for Heroes, Combat Stress, and Heads Together – the charity created by Kate, William and Harry will all be included in the charity raising.

Meghan’s recent style has been more androgynous with stylish black suits and dresses.

She went for a racy tuxedo mini dress that flashed her long pins with Prince Harry during a performance of Hamilton.

The 36-year-old also chose a black two-piece suit when in Dublin on her first official visit overseas as a married royal family member.

Her style has been much more subdued since her marriage in May, compared to some of her previous red carpet looks.

Meghan’s body language has also changed since becoming a Duchess, compared to an actress, according to expert Judi James.
