In his heyday, he was reportedly earning around $10 million a year, due to his appearances in The Longest Yard, Smokey and the Bandit and Hooper.

It was in his Hollywood heyday that Burt boasted an impressive property portfolio, including his famous “Burt Reynolds Ranch”, a private jet and a helicopter.

The Burt Reynolds Ranch was a sprawling 153-acre estate, which included a petting zoo which was used for filming scenes for Smokey and the Bandit.

He is also known to have owned several custom-made sports cars, 150 horses, and an impressive toupee collection valued at $100,000.

In 1982 he became co-owner of the Tampa Bay Bandits, an American football team in the USFL.

However, Burt’s cash flow didn’t stay booming for too long, with the actor losing around $20 million in the 80s.

Burt had invested the money into a restaurant chain, which ultimately failed and lost the actor a huge sum of money.

In 1996 he filed for bankruptcy, where he cited $6.6 million in assets and $11.2 million in debts.

But Burt didn’t let his financial issues hold back his career, going on to star in 47 films after declaring bankruptcy.

The actor soon started to rebuild his fortune, appearing in classics such as Boogie Nights, Without a Paddle, The Dukes of Hazzard.

With his money, Burt bought a mansion in Tequesta, Florida, an affluent enclave in Palm Beach County.

The 3.4-acre estate included a quarter-mile driveway, two garages and a bar, which the actor called “Burt’s Place”.

Another legendary star who recently passed was “Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin. Aretha Franklin, one of the most well-loved singers of all time, has died aged 76 after battling pancreatic cancer.
