OnePlus 6T release – Fans may have got their first look at the flagship’s two new features

The OnePlus 6T is expected to be the successor to the highly-regarded OnePlus 6.

The latter was released back in May and touted a host of premium features for an incredibly tantalising price.

OnePlus 6 boasted a 6.28-inch display with a resolution of 1080×2280.

The panel featured a controversial notch at the top but severely reduced bezels overall.

OnePlus 6 also came packing the latest and greatest internals that made the device blisteringly fast.

A Snapdragon 845 chip powered the hardware and was accompanied by either 6 or 8GB of RAM depending on the variety.

An Adreno 630 GPU also ensured graphical performance on the device was up to snuff with rival flagships.

OnePlus has a tradition of releasing new devices with “T” branding that refine the regular numbered iterations of the smartphone.

For that reason the Chinese tech giant is presumed to be planning the release of the OnePlus 6T later this year.

As T devices are usually released around six months after the initial numbered phone, the 6T is expected to launch in October or November.

In fact, a recent report from CNET insisted the device will arrive in the month of Halloween.

It added the price for the hardware was “tentatively set” at $550 (£428.85).

And now it appears fans of the budget flagship line may have got their best look at two of the OnePlus 6T’s best new features.

New pictures recently emerged of an alleged box for the new device on Chinese blogging site Weibo.

First noticed by Phone Arena, the packaging appears to show the outline of the forthcoming hardware.

An incredibly tiny notch can be seen at the top of the device, suggesting OnePlus is destined to reduce the bezels of the smartphone even further this time.

And a fingerprint icon can be seen at the bottom of the display, which, combined with the branding on the box that reads “unlock the speed”, suggests a fingerprint sensor inside the display is also a possibility.

Such a design choice was heavily rumoured after Oppo, the parent company of OnePlus, announced its R17 phone that touted a similar notch and futuristic fingerprint scanner under the front glass.

Oppo also recently announced a more premium version of the R17, the R17 Pro.

This device features 3 camera sensors on its rear and hints the OnePlus 6T could also come with a trio of snappers.

That is because OnePlus has previously appeared to take inspiration from the design choices of its parent company.

The latest leak did not feature an actual picture of the forthcoming OnePlus 6T however, meaning fans will have to wait a little longer to see what the budget flagship has in store.

If the device is being released in October, it surely won’t be long before an official hardware announcement is made from the Chinese tech giant.
