WWE news: Kenny Omega took swipe at Roman Reigns before All In triumph

IWGP Heavyweight Champion Omega competed at All In and defeated Pentagon Jr at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

The wrestling event was put together by Cody Rhodes as well as The Young Bucks and has earned the title of The Biggest Independent Wrestling Show Ever as it sold a whopping 10,000 tickets in just half an hour.

Omega was promoting the event yesterday and told the press that there is a lot of talent out there and that people are not only focusing on a “Big Dog”.

He said: “They are ready for a change. They are ready to accept that there is more than one dog in town… More than one Big Dog in town.”

Reigns earned the nickname of The Big Dog ever since his WWE debut in 2012 with Shield team-mates Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose.

WWE have been trying to establish him as the company’s next top star ever since 2015 despite the fact the four-time world champion receives more jeers than cheers from the audience.

Omega started out his career in WWE’s developmental territory in Deep South Wrestling in 2005 and was coached by Dave Taylor until he seeked for new challenges elsewhere a year later.

Fans have been wanting to see the Canadian superstar return to Vince McMahon’s promotion but he seems focused on New Japan Pro-Wrestling and the independent scene.

The IWGP Heavyweight Champion had a stunning match against WWE legend and six-time world champion Chris Jericho at NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 12 event at the Tokyo Dome last January.

Omega won the No Disqualification Match and successfully defended the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship.

Reigns’ era as WWE’s top star seems to have kicked off after he won the Universal Championship from Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam.

The Big Dog also reformed The Shield and seems to be stronger then ever with Ambrose and Intercontinental Champion Rollins by his side.

The four-time world champion will defend the belt at Hell in a Cell on September 16 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas against Braun Strowman.

Strowman agreed to cash in his Money in the Bank contract as long as Reigns faces him in a Hell in a Cell Match as that will prevent Ambrose and Rollins from interfering.

Rumours suggest the Universal Champion is set for a long title reign and may even get embroiled in a feud with British superstar Drew McIntyre.
