James Milner reached a significant personal milestone as he helped Liverpool continue their winning start to the season against Leicester this afternoon.
Goals from Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino ensured the Reds racked up their fourth win out of four so far this campaign, with Jurgen Klopp’s side only conceding one goal in the process.
Milner provided the cross for Firmino’s header during the 2-1 victory, clocking up the 80th Premier League assist of his career.
The delivery brings the 32-year-old level with Manchester United and England legend David Beckham in the all-time list and puts a former Liverpool great next in his sights.
Milner has enjoyed a resurgence under Klopp at Anfield, having joined from Manchester City on a free transfer back in 2015.

The midfielder has now clocked up a century of appearances for the Reds in all competitions and broke the record for assists in a single Champions League campaign last season.
The Reds cult hero created nine goals for his team-mates in Europe during the 2017/18 season, beating the previous record jointly held by Wayne Rooney and Neymar.
And now Milner’s selfless talents are coming to the fore once again with the former Leeds and Aston Villa star matching the top-flight tally of dead-ball specialist Beckham.
However, the Liverpool ace is some way off the record and currently occupies seventh in the all-time list.
There are only two other players in the top 10 who still ply their trade in the Premier League, with Milner’s former City team-mate David Silva trailing the Yorkshireman on 75.
Meanwhile, Cess Fabregas has a stellar 111 assists in his Premier League career, placing the Spaniard second in the top 10, although he may struggle to add to that total under Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea.
With Milner starting every match of the season so far under Klopp, the veteran midfielder should get plenty of chances to move further up the overall rankings.
