Samsung has revealed an all-new 8K television today at the IFA technology show in Berlin which they say is part of the company’s long-term vision to make 8K the most accurate and life-like screen resolution on the market.
Samsung revealed a concept TV back in January which uses clever technology to upscale 4K to full 8K.
Now it seems they are ready to start shipping the real deal to homes.
The new Q900R 8K TV will go on sale in October with Samsung boasting that it features Real 8K Resolution capable of up to 4,000 nit peak brightness – a standard met by most film studios.

The platform allows you to display contact information, social media links, services, and products all in one shareable link. Optional features include appointment scheduling, WhatsApp-based storefronts, media galleries, and custom design options.
This feature allows TV to produce four times more pixels than a 4K UHD TV and 16 times more pixels than a full HD TV.
“At Samsung, we’ve worked tirelessly over the years to move the industry forward when it comes to premium picture quality, and the introduction of our QLED 8K with 8K AI Upscaling is an integral component as we look to the future of displays,” said Jongsuk Chu, Senior Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.
“We’re thrilled to introduce the Q900R to consumers and are confident that they will experience nothing short of brilliance in colour, clarity and sound on our new 8K-capable models.”
There’s no pricing yet but the ultra-large screens will be available in four sizes, from 65” to 85”.
Samsung isn’t the first to reveal an 8K set with LG announcing a new TV yesterday.
The South Korean tech giant claimed the product is the world’s first that melds OLED technology with a 7680×4320 resolution.
Introducing the product, LG’s president of home entertainment, Brian Kwon, said: “LG’s first 8K OLED TV is the pinnacle of technological achievement and the next evolutionary step in display technology.
“4K OLED played a major role in reshaping TV industry and LG is confident that 8K OLED will do the same.”
LG claimed over 5million 8K televisions will have been sold by 2022.
8K televisions promise to deliver double the resolution of 4K that is currently the highest standard available to consumers at relatively affordable prices.
LG did not provide a price or release date for the colossal 8K television shown off at IFA 2018.
