Cristiano Ronaldo: Juventus star will score ‘enormous amount’ despite goalless start

That’s the view of the former Real Madrid star’s Old Lady team-mate Blaise Matuidi, who has seen Ronaldo go goalless in his opening two Serie A matches.

It’s not stopped the Turin side gaining maximum points from their opening games with a 3-2 victory at Chievo followed up by a 2-0 home win over Lazio.

Ronaldo had a golden opportunity to open his Juve tally when Joao Cancelo rolled the ball across to him by goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha did enough to stop the Portuguese ace from tapping in.

As it was, Mario Mandzukic netted the rebound and Ronaldo now has to wait to next weekend, when Juventus visit Parma, to try and net his first Juve goal.

But Matuidi has no worries about Ronaldo and insists he will flourish at the Allianz.

“He is the best player in the world,” Matuidi said.

“For us it is something exceptional, we are very happy to play with him.

“We’re going to help him score goals because it is in his DNA.

“We know that if he scores goals it will help us win more matches. Of course, we will learn from his game. Juventus is another culture. For him, for us, to understand his game.

“He is someone who goes forward very quickly, who is very mobile, we need to understand each other better.

“We will improve in that sense and I know he will score an enormous amount of goals.”

Miralem Pjanic also netted for Juventus in victory over Lazio with the current Serie A champions the early pace-setters this season.

Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Turin in the summer after nine years at Real Madrid, where he won three successive Champions League titles.

Juventus hope the 33-year-old will guide them to European glory again having last lifted the Champions League in 1996.

And Juve boss Max Allegri has no worries that Ronaldo will shine in the weeks and months to come.

“It’s only two weeks that he’s with us,” Allegri said.

“He’s intelligent and understands that Italian football is different to that in Spain.

“Today he played well also in defence, everyone is waiting for his first goal. I’m happy with how he’s fitting in, he is a very humble lad.”
