Captain Marvel trailer release date: Star posts major new teaser video

Avengers 4 may well be all about time travel but fans are wishing time would pass a bit more quickly right now.

There are still six months to go until the next Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster hits screens and there has been no sign of any teaser or trailer yet.

Infinity War ended on a huge tease for Captain Marvel and she is expected to play a major role in the defeat of Thanos and launch of the MCU Phase 4.

But where is the first Captain Marvel trailer?

Even by Marvel’s super-secretive standards this is remarkably late for the marketing push to begin.

Back in June Kevin Feige said that the first trailer was “a few months” away.

With Ant-Man and the Wasp home entertainment releases expected to dominate October and the Avengers 4 title and first trailer almost certain to drop in November, everything points to a Septmber release for the Captain Marvel materials.

The film’s star Lee Pace just posted a new video on Instagram.

Pace will return to the MCU to play his Kree villain Ronan the Accuser.

Ronan was last seen being killed by the Guardians of the Galaxy in their first big screen outing, however the Captain Marvel movie is set decades before in the 1990s.

Pace posted a rather lovely video of himself shirtless walking through some ruins to a clifftop overlooking what appears to be the Pont du Gard in Provence.

But it’s not the gorgeous scenery that is getting fans excited.

To be fair, many of the comments on the video are declarations of love for the handsome star, but it is his cap and the tagline which is the Marvel-lous point.

Pace is wearing a Captain Marvel baseball cap and he tagged the post simply “#captainmarvel @marvel.”

No doubt he is proud and excited about his role in the movie but there are far more direct ways to express that. And why not tag where he is or what he is doing?

Marvel have become masters at indirect, playful marketing and it seems clear that the cheeky star is teasing some big news coming soon.

That trailer must surely be just around the corner…
