Barcelona transfer news: Man Utd twist as two players emerge as key to Paul Pogba deal

Barcelona want Manchester United star Pogba to be their final summer signing after previous deals for Arthur Melo, Arturo Vidal, Malcom and Clement Lenglet.

The Catalan giants’ midfield options appear well-stocked with the club also having Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic and Denis Suarez at their disposal.

Barcelona’s chances of raiding United for Pogba appear remote with the Red Devils adamant he is not for sale.

Yet Spanish newspaper Marca say the La Liga side feel he may yet sign if they can gather the funds.

As things stand, Barcelona are unable to afford Pogba.

The Catalan giants’ decision to invest so heavily in recent years on players such as Malcom, Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho means they have to tighten the purse strings.

Despite that, though, Marca say Barcelona could yet raise funds.

It is said they could sell one or two players to ensure they have the money in the bank to tempt United into selling.

The Red Devils have always maintained Pogba will not be going anywhere.

But widespread reports have claimed the France international is hellbent on swapping Old Trafford for the Nou Camp.

Pogba admitted his attitude was poor during United’s 3-2 Premier League defeat to Brighton last weekend.

He said: “The attitude that we had was not like we wanted to beat them. They had more anger than us and that showed on the pitch.

“I put myself first. My attitude wasn’t right enough. We’ll keep trying and keep pushing and obviously it’s a lesson for us.”

Yet manager Jose Mourinho refused to open up on his midfielder’s words when quizzed about it today.

“Paul told,” Mourinho said.

“[He] has to answer by his words, if you want any explanation about Paul’s words you must get him and ask him.”
