Overwatch players in the PTR can try out the new Busan map today while an animated short called ‘Shooting Star’ staring D.Va has also been revealed.
The Overwatch animated short was revealed at Gamescom 2018 while the news about the Busan map was announced at the Korean Overwatch Fan Festival.
The new Overwatch animated short was posted on Twitter today.
The clip was tweeted out alongside the message: “Behind closed doors and away from the cameras, beloved former pro gamer and current MEKA squad pilot D.Va prepares her mech for the unexpected…
“Watch SHOOTING STAR now!”
The official description for the D.Va animated short reads: “This short centers around Korea’s favorite professional gamer and star of the MEKA squad, D.Va.
“When she isn’t enjoying the limelight, D.Va works tirelessly to ensure she is prepared for the next Omnic attack.
“Despite apprehension from the MEKA team, it turns out that such an incursion would occur much sooner than expected…”
While Busan is a Control Map that is also themed around D.Va.
The description for trailer says: “Travel to Busan, South Korea and battle for control across three distinct locales within one map: Sanctuary, Downtown, and MEKA Base.
“Explore the serene setting of the Sanctuary, surrounded by an ancient temple, beautiful gardens, and historic architecture.
“Clash in the bustling metropolis of Downtown, where players will fight across a busy PC bang, flashy karaoke bar, and central light rail station (just watch out for the train).
“Contest for position in MEKA Base–home of South Korea’s frontline defense against the gwishin omnic attacks: D.Va and the rest of the MEKA squad.
“Teams must fight to hold each of the three stages to establish complete control of the city that refuses to surrender its way of life to any threat.”
Also during Gamescom it was revealed that Overwatch is teaming up with LEGO for a range of products.
The official Overwatch Twitter account posted a teaser video yesterday and this caption: “Assemble your team.
“Overwatch + @LEGO_Group: Coming Soon!”
So far six heroes were hinted at in the teaser video: Mercy, Genji, McCree, Soldier 76, Ana and one other hero.
