Man Utd news: Brighton star takes swipe at Red Devils after Premier League debut

The Nigerian ace made his debut for the Seagulls on Sunday, coming off the bench in the 3-2 victory over Jose Mourinho’s men.

Manchester United have been lambasted for their performance at the Amex Stadium at the weekend, in a game which was littered with defensive errors for the Red Devils.

As well as struggling at the back, Mourinho’s men also failed to break down Brighton’s defence with their attacking build-up play.

And new addition Balogun admits he expected to face a tougher task during his first Premier League game for his new side.

“Some of the lads have just asked me that too and I said I had expected the Premier League to be quicker, but they told me this is always the kind of game you play against [Manchester] United,” he said after the 3-2 victory.

“They like to slow it down a little bit sometimes.

“Liverpool is going to be completely different.

“I know how [Jurgen] Klopp likes to play.

“It’s going to be a lot quicker and a lot more intense.”

Mourinho was unhappy after his side suffered their first defeat of the season on Sunday.

“We were punished by the mistakes we made,” he told reporters.

“For me that’s the story of the game.

“We made incredible mistakes in some crucial moments. Mistakes that killed us.

“Especially that third goal – we expected to come at 2-1 with positivity – then the third goal killed us off in the second half.”

United face a huge task competing with neighbours Manchester City, who have picked up where they left off last season with some impressive displays.

The Premier League champions currently sit top of the pile after two matches.

United will be hoping to return to winning ways when they take on top four rivals Tottenham on Monday evening.
