Tesla news: Elon Musk’s tears of a billionaire as he reveals gruelling work schedule

Billionaire genius Mr Musk has cashed in great achievements in the past years.

His electric-car company, Tesla, hit the mass-market for the first time in 2017, when the firm began producing the Model 3 sedan.

And earlier this year, SpaceX, his aerospace company, launched a Tesla Roadster car in space, with the aim of positioning it in a constant orbit around the Sun and Mars.

But these achievement came at a price, he confessed, and are affecting his health.

He told the New York Times: “It’s not been great, actually. I’ve had friends come by who are really concerned.

“There were times when I didn’t leave the factory for three or four days — days when I didn’t go outside.

”This has really come at the expense of seeing my kids. And seeing friends.”

Mr Musk also added he has to balance his hectic schedule with a lack of sleep.

He said: “It is often a choice of no sleep or Ambien (a sedative).”

Mr Musk has become famous not only for his achievements but also for his unorthodox leadership style.

Earlier this month he took to Twitter to reveal he was thinking about taking Tesla private at $420 a share.

He wrote: “Am considering taking Tesla private at $420. Funding secured.

“Shareholders could either to sell at 420 or hold shares & go private.”

But this announcement upset shareholders, especially for the way it was delivered, as companies usually do not take to social media to announce a major shift in their policies.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission, an agency regulating the security of industries, opened an inquiry.

Some members of the Tesla’s board of directors have sought the advice of their lawyers and some shareholders have filed lawsuits, according to Business Insider.

Explaining the reason why he announced his intentions on social media, Mr Musk said he wanted to be as transparent as possible.

But Lou Whiteman, a contributor at the investment site Motley Fool and a veteran transportation reporter, blasted his action.

Speaking to Vox, he said: “He has a history of typing what he’s thinking and hitting send.

“It does seem like yes, there was some discussion, it’s probably something that’s been in his head a long time.

“It certainly wasn’t that he had a term sheet signed.”
