Fortnite Rifts are closing: Epic Games reveal big Week 6 news

There have been rumours that the Fortnite Rifts were set to close later this month as part of the ongoing Season 5 event.

They were introduced late into Season 4 and have proved useful to some fans.

However, the latest reports suggest that Epic Games are set to close them, probably to make way for something else.

This is expected to be a gradual change, which will see the rifts in the sky shrink, and then disappear on August 21.

The latest information is based on what has been found in the game’s files and isn’t something that Epic Games has officially announced.

However, something is changing during Week 6 that fans will probably notice.

According to the development team, a new bug has been found that is affecting the Rifts.

This problem means that they will be taken offline over the weekend on all platforms.

“Due to a bug with the Rifts, we’re temporarily disabling them in all game modes until we have a fix. We’ll update you once this is resolved,” the message from Epic Games confirms.

As mentioned above, there is no current ETA on when this problem will be fixed, or how long it will last.

Fortnite season 6 is creeping up quickly with the release date for the brand new Battle Pass a matter of weeks away.

Right now in Fortnite season 5, there is a countdown running showing how much time is left for fans to play through the current Battle Pass.

At the moment the countdown in the Battle Pass says that Fortnite season 5 will have an end date of Monday, September 17 2018.

With past season crossovers, the brand new Battle Pass began the day after the final day of the previous Fortnite season.

So that could mean that Fortnite season 6 will have a release date of Tuesday, September 18 2018.

Alternatively, if Fortnite season 6 gets delayed like previous season updates, then it could launch on Thursday, September 20.

It’s expected that after the rifts are removed from the game, we will start to see the next hints at what will be coming next.

Season 4 saw a rocket launch into the sky and bring about the rifts, so there are high hopes for another big event like that.

Season 4 also saw a lot of little hints dropped before the rocket launch, as well as loading screen being released that hinted at what would be coming next.

The Visitor made up a big part of this, and so we could get our first big hint during week 7 or week 8 of season 5.
