Blackout beta release date: Next Call of Duty Black Ops 4 beta hits PS4 FIRST, Xbox later

Blackout marks ’s first attempt at the battle royale genre and is part of Black Ops 4.

Call of Duty fans have just finished the two periods of Black Ops 4 beta testing, with only one taking place on Xbox One and PCs.

That’s because the PS4 had exclusivity for the first Black Ops 4 beta test and then shared the second with the Xbox One and PCs.

And PS4 fans have once again got the jump on their Xbox One and PC counterparts for the upcoming Blackout beta.

The official Call of Duty Twitter account yesterday posted a teaser trailer revealing the Blackout beta release date.

The Blackout beta kicks off on Monday September 10 and it will be available first on PS4.

The Blackout teaser was tweeted out alongside the message: “Prepare accordingly. #Blackout”.

The trailer says that the Blackout beta “begins first” on PS4 with other platforms to follow.

The Blackout beta teaser reveals that three modes will be available to play in September – solos, duos and quads.

Ahead of the Blackout beta being launched, Activision this week issued a warning to Call of Duty Black Ops 4 players.

Developers Treyarch on Reddit revealed that those who took part in the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 beta should not delete their game files.

This is because the game file from the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 beta will be updated for the Blackout beta.

So, once that goes live there will be no need for Call of Duty fans to re-download Black Ops 4 again.

Treyarch posted: “Thank you everyone for the feedback from this weekend. As you get to take a breath, let us know your thoughts.

“Also, quick heads-up that the game file from this weekend will be updated for the upcoming Blackout beta, so no need to download the full game again.”

David Vonderhaar, Studio Design Director at Treyarch, spoke last month about the upcoming Blackout mode.

He said: “Everyone who works on Blackout or plays is always eager to share a story they have.

“That game session might be a triumphant victory or a tragic loss — it might be how land, sea, and air vehicles collided in unexpected ways for a final showdown — or, it just might be a funny fail moment.

“No matter what, when people get done playing and want to tell the story of what happened to them afterwards, you know you have something special.”
