Pokemon Go Community Day September REVEAL: Shiny Chikorita release date news

Fans will get the chance to add a new Shiny Pokemon to their collection next month.

It has now been confirmed that Chikorita will be the Pokemon Go Community Day event pocket monster.

Niantic has now updated their event site to confirm the first details of the upcoming celebration.

This includes confirming Chikorita as the headlining Pokemon, as well as revealing the start date.

September’s Community Day will be hosted on Saturday the 22nd, and will run for the usual three-hours.

Unlike with the recent Eevee evolutions event, fans will not get bonus time to evolve shiny Chikoritas, which will be available to catch.

The Chikorita variant is one of the main bonuses of the day, although there are a few others as well.

Pokemon fans will be able to earn three times the amount of XP during event hours, which will run at different times, depending on the region.

Chikoritas that are evolved to their final forms, Meganium, will also unlock a special move.

This move will be exclusive to event hours and will only be available in the Pokemon’s final form.

This special move has not been confirmed yet, so fans may have to wait a few weeks for more information.

Leaked information has appeared in the past, so there’s also a chance fans will find out sooner rather than later.

“I just wish they’d keep it 3x stardust instead of switching to 3x XP. Hopefully, they keep the exclusive move for a little after the event ends like with Eevee,” one fan commented following the announcement.

“I don’t need the catch XP desperately anymore, because I actually just hit 40 last night finally. That’s what I meant. Still looking for shinies.”

Another commented: “Lame, yet not surprising. Feels too soon to be having a Community Day featuring a move we already had this year (Frenzy Plant), and it’s an odd choice to still withhold the exclusive move as a “surprise.”

“After two months of the move/featured final evolution being meta irrelevant, I was hoping for something along the lines of Ralts/Bagon/Beldum/Swinub.”

The next Community Day event will have to contend with the popular Eevee evolutions event, which saw players able to add a lot of new Pokemon to their collections.

Here’s a list of Shiny Eevees that could be evolved during August’s Community Day: Shiny Eevee, Shiny Vaporeon, Shiny Jolteon, Shiny Flareon, Shiny Espeon and Shiny Umbreon.

And according to the latest reports, players had to catch a high average of shiny Eevees if they wanted all of them.

According to numbers crunched by Pokemon Go fans, a total of 400 shiny Eevees are required for a good haul.

Here’s more from the Pokemon Go Hub team, who explain: “2 shiny Eevee for Gen II evolutions (Espeon and Umbreon), as these ones can be evolved by walking them as a buddy for 10 KMs and evolving during the day (Espeon) and night (Umbreon).

“10 – 13 shiny Eevee to have a 95% to 98% chance that you will get at least one of each (shiny Vaporeon, shiny Flareon and shiny Jolteon).
