OnePlus 6T release: Has the design of the latest budget flagship been outed?

The OnePlus 6T is expected to radically improve upon everything the OnePlus 6 brought to the table when it released back in May.

OnePlus’s T line boasts iterative improvements over the major overhauls boasted by regular numbered devices.

Typically they are announced within six months of the last OnePlus device.

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has taken cues from rival Oppo in the past, as noted by Android Headlines.

Oppo is the parent company of OnePlus so design decisions may be deliberately shared between the two.

The former recently announced their R17 smartphone that boasts an incredibly tiny triangular notch, a fingerprint sensor embedded in the display and comes with 8GB of RAM.

OnePlus has appeared to take inspiration from Oppo in the past with its 5 and 5T bearing close similarities to the latter’s R11 and R11S hardware respectively.

The OnePlus 6 also oozed a resemblance to Oppo’s R15 hardware although the former opted to move its camera sensor into a vertical position.

The R15 meanwhile kept its camera sensors at the top corner of the device and in a landscape orientation.

But the announcement of the R17 may give OnePlus fans clues as to what they can expect from the 6T.

Although the new budget flagship could reduce bezels further, it is unlikely to take the technologically advanced fingerprint scanning tech touted on the R17.

This would presumably be done to keep costs to a minimum.

The OnePlus 6T would most likely come with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor instead.

While the R17 comes with a Snapdragon 670 processor, the OnePlus would surely retain the blisteringly fast Snapdragon 845 that powered the OnePlus 6.

Although the R17 could provide Android lovers with a tantalising glimpse into the future of the next generation of OnePlus hardware, it is unknown how closely the two devices will resemble each other.

OnePlus’ 6T flagship will presumably be announced later this year.
