
That is the suggestion of former Celtic and Chelsea striker Chris Sutton, who has questioned Jose Mourinho’s jibes towards the midfielder.
Paul Pogba has experienced the highs and lows of top level football since rejoining United from Juventus two years ago.
And his difficulties over the past 12 months in particular have come amid speculation over a rift with Mourinho.
Mourinho has not shied away from calling out Pogba in public, while the 25-year-old hinted all is not well after Friday night’s 2-1 win over Leicester.
Sutton has now offered his perspective on the situation and claimed Pogba is in a stronger position than United are.

“What was the point of Jose’s criticism of Pogba after the World Cup, saying he needs to do it in a United shirt?” Sutton told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“What was the point? Every action has a consequence and that’s clearly upset Paul Pogba.
“Manchester United need Paul Pogba more than Paul Pogba needs Manchester United right now. And that’s the bottom line.
“He was their best player on Friday night. And why should he hang around for Jose, really, when all he does is sly little digs at him?”
Pogba and Mourinho’s relationship has supposedly worsened as Barcelona have eyed up a move for the France international.
Although Pogba was handed the captaincy by Mourinho as United kicked off the new campaign against Leicester.
The World Cup winner has been touted as a potential permanent skipper following Michael Carrick’s retirement.
However, Arsenal legend Ian Wright reckons something is amiss between Pogba and Mourinho.
“I think [Pogba] loves the club, I just think it’s Mourinho,” said Wright.
Meanwhile, United are back in action on Sunday as they travel to the south coast to face Brighton.
Mourinho’s men tasted defeat when they visited the Amex Stadium in May.
