Man Utd news: Fans believe Alexis Sanchez should play up front or be DROPPED

Manchester United got their new Premier League season off to a great start last week beating Leicester 2-1 at Old Trafford.

Paul Pogba opened the scoring with his third minute penalty before Luke Shaw doubled their tally seven minutes from time.

Jamie Vardy did score a late consolation goal but it wasn’t enough to stop Leicester from slipping to defeat.

Chile international Sanchez won the early penalty after his deflected shot was handled by Daniel Amartey.

But other than winning the spot-kick, Sanchez was unable to contribute more on the night.

He lost the ball a staggering 23 times against the Foxes, giving away possession more than any other Manchester United player.

And his lacklustre performance has led to some Manchester United fans calling for him to played up front along with Romelu Lukaku.

“Alexis from the left, I hate,” Red Devils fan Rants said on popular fan channel The United Stand.

And his co-host Flex couldn’t agree more.

“That’s not working is it,” Flex added.

“I don’t know how we’re going to get the best out of him there. I don’t think we will, it just isn’t working.”

Rants went on to claim Sanchez’s best position is up front.

“His best season for Arsenal was up front,” he said. “They drop [Olivier] Giroud and played him up front in a false nine.

“Alexis needs to play up front with Lukaku in a two to get the best out of him.

“From the left, he’s too predictable, he cuts in and he tries these passes that aren’t really on.

“His only saving grace is his work-rate.”

And many Old Trafford supporters agreed with Flex and Rants’ opinions of Sanchez, with some claiming he should be dropped.

“I think dropping Alexis would actually improve him because he would know he needs to perform better to get into the starting XI,” one fan commented.

Another said: “Rest him for 3 matches or 2, play martial, then play him again he will be better cause he knows he need to fight for his place.”

“Sanchez keeps trying little chip ball over the top that will work once in 50 attempts! Sanchez needs to be centrally if he’s going to start for me,” a third fan wrote.
