Avengers Infinity War makers confirm hero is NOT dead ahead of Avengers 4 – despite fears

Despite the huge cast of the Marvel blockbuster, there were still some fan favourites who didn’t get any screen-time.

Those included Thor: Ragnarok newcomers such as Valkyrie, played by Tessa Thompson – who went down so well in last year’s smash that many were disappointed she was nowhere to be seen in Infinity War.

The latter movie begins just moments after Ragnarok ended, with lots of Asgardians seemingly killed by Thanos – and no word on if anyone survived.

It had previously been indicated that Valkyrie made it out alive, but writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and directors Joe and Anthony Russo have now set that declaration in stone on the Infinity War Blu-ray commentary.

“I think we should say that several Asgardians have escaped,” McFeely said.

Joe Russo added: “Several Asgardians have escaped. I have gone on record saying Valkyrie has escaped with some of the Asgardians.”

Of course whether she survived Thanos’s Snap at the end of the movie is a separate question in itself, but given that many of those fatalities are confirmed to be back in Avengers 4, perhaps that isn’t so much of a pressing issue.

It’s not looking so good for Korg – as Markus chimed in: “All I can say is pray for Korg.”

Avengers 4 is out next year and remains shrouded in mystery – with even the official title not expected to be announced until later in 2018.

In the meantime, fans can look forward to Brie Larson’s MCU debut as Captain Marvel in March 2019.

The character has not been seen on-screen in the MCU yet, although she was referenced in the end credits scene of Infinity War when Nick Fury appeared to contact her shortly before he himself fell victim to the Snap.

Larson acknowledged the scene last week in a funny tweet, which promptly received thousands of retweets and favourites.

Avengers: Infinity War’s DVD, digital and Blu-ray release in the UK is not scheduled for another few weeks, with physical formats hitting shelves on September 3.

Avengers 4 follows on April 26, 2019.
