Ousmane Dembele to Arsenal

Ousmane Dembele’s representatives are encouraging Arsenal to intensify their efforts to sign the Barcelona star, reports claim.

The Gunners have frequently been linked with the French international, who is reported to be unsettled by Malcom’s Nou Camp arrival.

And Arsenal could pick up the pieces.

Spanish radio station Cadena SER are claiming that Dembele’s agents have been in touch.

They report that Dembele, 21, is happy to stick with Barcelona but would happily listen to any offers that arrive before the transfer window closes next week.

In addition to Cadena SER’s claims, Football London say Arsenal transfer chief Sven Mislintat has been in touch.

The 45-year-old knows all about the France international having brokered his move to Borussia Dortmund from Rennes in 2016.

Whether it is enough for lure him to Arsenal, though, remains to be seen.

Done Deal: Newcastle sign Muto

Newcastle have signed Japan forward Yoshinori Muto from Mainz on a four-year contract.

The Toon said last week that they had reached an agreement with the Bundesliga club for the transfer.

Muto’s move was completed earlier today after he was granted a work permit.

“I’m honoured to be a player for such a big club,” Muto, the first Japanese player to join Newcastle, said.

Reports suggest Muto’s transfer fee was around £9.5million.

Anthony Martial swap deal

Manchester United swapping Anthony Martial for Chelsea winger Willian would be a great piece of business by Jose Mourinho, says Steve Nicol.

Both Martial and Willian are keen to leave their respective clubs this summer.

Martial has not returned to Manchester United’s pre-season tour following the birth of his son last week.

Whereas reports claim Willian has returned late to Chelsea training.

When asked if a swap deal would be a good move, Nicol says United would come out of it better than Chelsea.

“If I’m Man United I’m taking that in a heartbeat,” he said. “You know exactly what you are getting from Willian. We still don’t know, every time Martial steps on the field, what we’re going to get. So, who benefits? I’ll tell you what, Man United.”

Barcelona deal imminent

Barcelona are set to complete the signing of Senegal youngster Moussa Wague in the coming hours, according to reports in Spain.

Wague, 19, was at the World Cup with Senegal this summer, scoring against Japan to become the youngest African goalscorer at a World Cup.

And SPORT report that he will join Barcelona as a future prospect today.

He is said to have arrived in Spain to undergo a medical prior to his announcement.

Newcastle eye Myziane Maolida

Newcastle have contacted Lyon over a move to sign teenage sensation Myziane Maolida.

That is according to French newspaper L’Equipe, who claim the Toon have entered the battle for Maolida’s signature.

A move for Maolida, 19, could be on the cards if Newcastle can fend off rival interest from Real Betis and Sevilla.

According to L’Equipe, Maolida is valued at £7.1m (€8m).

Christian Pulisic sale

Liverpool transfer target Christian Pulisic could be sold by Borussia Dortmund next summer if he fails to agree a new contract.

That’s according to German football expert Raphael Honigstein, who says sources close to the Bundesliga giants do not believe a deal for the winger is imminent.

Pulisic has been on Liverpool’s radar ever since Jurgen Klopp took charge at Anfield and he was the subject of a bid from the Reds two years ago.

A potential move for the USA international has been talked up this summer as Klopp looks to add to his attacking options.

“Well, this all comes from a very interesting story in Bild who say that Christian Pulisic and his dad have refused to enter any more negotiations about extending his contract beyond 2020, which could put him on the market, of course,” Honigstein told ESPN FC, when asked about Liverpool’s interest in Pulisic.

“They expect him to be there for next season. And if the situation doesn’t change, as far as extending his contract is concerned, he will then definitely be sold in the summer of 2019.”
