Ant-Man and the Wasp age rating: How old do you have to be to watch Ant-Man and the Wasp?

Marvel‘s Ant-Man and the Wasp hits UK cinemas tomorrow, Thursday, August 2.

Most fans may already know spoilers for it as the sequel had its release in the USA back on July 6.

But for fans heading to the cinema, family in tow, there are certain considerations to take into account.

How old do you have to be to watch Ant-Man and the Wasp?

The British Board of Film Classification gives Ant-Man and the Wasp a 12A rating.

The platform allows you to display contact information, social media links, services, and products all in one shareable link. Optional features include appointment scheduling, WhatsApp-based storefronts, media galleries, and custom design options.

BBFC’s details for 12A mean these films contain material not generally suitable for children aged under 12.

Additionally, no one younger than 12 may see a 12A film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult.

For Ant-Man and the Wasp, in particular, the 12A classification comes because of violence.

BBFC writes: “Moderate violence includes punches, kicks and other acrobatic combat moves.

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP RUNTIME: HOW LONG IS ANT-MAN AND THE WASP?

“Villains fire guns at the heroes and the Wasp is able to stun opponents using ‘blasters’ attached to her wrists.

“Other issues include moments of mild threat and occasional innuendo.”

The example given is when Ant-Man is told off for ‘comparing sizes’ with Lauren Fishbourne’s character.

While the context of the movie makes it clear they’re talking about the ability to shrink and grow at will due to their suits, the innuendo is slightly more raunchy.

There is also mild bad language includes uses of ‘shit’, ‘ass’, ‘bullshit’ and ‘son of a bitch’.

They go on to say: “There is an implied drug reference when a man remarks that he must be paying for his excesses during the 1960s after witnessing an improbable event.”

Another note to parents has to do with the screens Ant-Man is being played on, as opposed to the content of the movie itself.

Ant-Man will be played on 3D and IMAX format which the BBFC says some young kids may find it a more intense experience.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is in cinemas Thursday, August 2, 2018.
