Google Pixel 3 leak may have given us our best look yet at Google’s upcoming flagship

Both the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are some of the most highly anticipated Android hardware of the year.

The tech giant is expected to radically refine its smartphone lineup while addressing fan concerns from the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.

Google announced both the original Pixel, Pixel XL and Pixel 2 lineup at a hardware event on October 4, so it is presumed the company will pencil in the same date for the Pixel 3’s grand unveiling.

Reliable tipster Evan Blass recently declared the tech company will have a hardware event this “fall” to show off a host of new products, including the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.

He tweeted: “Besides the Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, and second-gen Pixel Buds, a reliable source tells me – with high confidence – that Google’s fall hardware event will also introduce a Pixel-branded watch. Have a great summer!”

Rumours had heavily suggested the Pixel 3 XL was going to follow the 2018 smartphone trend by drastically reducing its bezels and employing a controversial notch.

But new images that have emerged allegedly showing a Pixel 3 XL have added further fuel to these.

The photos, that appeared on XDA Forums, show an all-white Pixel 3 XL sporting the phone line’s signature fingerprint reader and single camera lens on its rear.

In the images the phone’s display has been turned on – a notch can be seen in addition to two front-facing cameras.

This could hint the Pixel 3 XL could feature greatly enhanced selfie taking capabilities.

Portrait Mode shots could also be more accurate thanks to the revamped hardware.

The user who posted the pictures, dr.guru, insisted the back of the Pixel 3 XL unit was made of glass, hinting the new flagship could deliver wireless charging functionality.

When asked if the back was made from glass by another user dr.guru said “yes totally glass”, but noted the bottom part of the Pixel 3 XL’s rear was “matte” to “conserve the aesthetics” of the Pixel smartphone line.

Most notably the model does not feature Google’s signature “G” logo on the back, instead it features a symbol that presumably shows this is a prototype unit.

The photos add further weight to prior rumours Google is working to increase the screen size of the Pixel 3 XL while also preserving a very similar footprint to the Pixel 2 XL.

The latest images appear to line up with previous leaks about the phone’s design and build quality.
