PSN Down – PlayStation Network NOT WORKING as online service hit by major outage

Sony PlayStation gamers are suiffering with a major outage tonight as thousands can’t access the PSN network.

Problems seemed to start around 11.30pm with the issues still ongoing.

Independent website Down Detector has received thousands of reports that Sony’s PSN is down and not working.

The outage tracker monitors social mentions around certain topics to detect outages across the world.

The issues appear to be widespread with problems reported in the UK, other areas of Europe.

Sony has also acknowledged the issues with the firm saying: “You may have some difficulty signing in or creating an account on PlayStation™Network.

“Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and we thank you for your patience.”

Users have taken to social media to complain about the problems with one saying: “Error code when trying to sign in want blah blah blah, been a nightmare tonight.”

And another added: “Can’t sign in PSN error WS-34731-8…this is a server error according to playstPlay website.

“Seems odd as my son is logged in and currently playing online up stairs using the same connection!”

According to Sony’s account page the following services are all hit by the issues.

Account Management, Gaming And Social, PlayStation™Now, PlayStation™Video, PlayStation®Store and PlayStation™Music are all affected.

There’s currently now word when things will get back to normal.

Tonight’s outage comes ahead of routine maintenance which is set to begin at 5.30am this morning,

Sony says: “Anyone who already has an account can still sign in to their PlayStation™Network profile, play games and use most applications while this maintenance is carried out.

“You will not be able to access PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, PlayStation Music, Gaming And Social, PlayStation Now, and PlayStation Vue during this maintenance.

“We apologise for any inconvenience. We recommend activating your PS4 as your primary console before maintenance begins so you can continue to play most games and use 3rd party services during maintenance.”
