Mission Impossible Fallout: Shocking Tom Cruise scene DELETED from final cut

Production was put on pause when Tom Cruise injured his ankle during filming, with the moment caught on camera and used in trailers.

However it has not appeared in the finished edit.

In the stunt, Cruise’s character Ethan Hunt is in the midst of a chase through central London’s Southbank when he jumps from one rooftop to another.

Cruise angled the landing slightly wrong, snapping his ankle on impact with a building.

That moment was in the trailers and had been used in publicity, including on the cast’s appearance on The Graham Norton Show earlier this year.

It’s not in the finished movie though, as noticed by ScreenRant – with a different take used instead.

Cruise told Norton’s show: “I was chasing Henry [Cavill] and was meant to hit the side of the wall and pull myself over but the mistake was my foot hitting the wall.

“I knew instantly my ankle was broken and I really didn’t want to do it again so just got up and carried on with the take.

“I said, ‘It’s broken. That’s a wrap. Take me to hospital’ and then everyone got on the phone and made their vacation arrangement.”

Mission: Impossible – Fallout has had exceptional reviews from critics and is off to a flying start at the box office.

According to Variety, it could net over $60 million in its opening weekend – a record for the franchise.

For contrast, predecessor Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation debuted to $55 million; then marking a franchise best.

It went on to gross $682 million worldwide overall, a number Fallout could now be looking to beat.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout is out now.
