Tottenham have been linked with a few players, including Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, however as of yet, haven’t conducted any business.
More of a concern is the potential outgoings from the north London outfit.
Toby Alderweireld is a top target for Manchester United, although they are also chasing Leicester’s Harry Maguire.
Mousa Dembele, meanwhile, who has less than 12 months left on his present contract, has been on Inter Milan’s radar.
But while Spurs’ rivals have been busier in the window, King reckons things will pick up for his old club.
“Obviously everyone else is adding to their squads and I’m sure the manager is looking,” King told Sky Sports News.
“But he will only bring in the right players for the right prices and I think that’s important.
“We need people who are really going to make an impact in the squad. If not, then we don’t need to buy.”
King believes Spurs have the crux of a very good squad which weighs in their favour, adding: “I think the consistency of the [current] squad is one of our strengths at the moment.
“This is a group of players that have been together for the last three or four years under the same manager.
“They understand each other really well and I do believe that is one of the strengths in our squad.”
