Sarah Ferguson as shared a letter written by the CEO of a charity of which she a patron.
The correspondence, which she as shared on Twitter and Instagram, slammed an article written about her daughter Princess Eugenie, 28.
The article written for the Daily Mail by Jan Moir had the headline: “Why is Princess Eugenie having such a preposterously lavish wedding?”
It continued to described Eugenie as a: “Lowly royal given a wedding just like Harry and Meghan whose hunger for glitz and glamour is the same as her mother.”
The article likened the Princess to one of the Queen’s corgis and added her wedding had: “Embarrassing echoes of the recent nuptials of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”
The CEO and co-founder of Humanitas Charity Sarah Wade hit back at the article.
She addressed a letter to the Daily Mail, which she then posted online.
Sarah wrote: “I am appalled at the vitriol that is expressed in the piece.”
The charity boss described the article as “inflammatory and divisive” and “malicious.”
However, Fergie’s fans rushed to stand up for the Duchess on her Instagram account.
One wrote: “You and your daughters are doing great work for children in need at all corners of the world.
“The best answer is to keep spreading your kindness to make the world a kinder place.”
Another said: “I think people forget that Eugenie is just as much a Princess as Charlotte is and she deserves the same respect.”
Despite the article Sarah kept her head her held high.
She posted a sweet message as a tribute to the Greek fire tragedy.
She wrote: “In deepest sympathy to all families in the tragedy of the fires in Greece.
“Thank you to #elenakountoura, the Greek people and services who are working tirelessly in such difficult circumstances.”
When she married Prince Andrew, Sarah was given a Burmese ruby ring.
