Man Utd news: Pep Guardiola would HATE what Jose Mourinho is doing – Scholes

That’s verdict of United legend and now pundit, Paul Scholes.

The former midfielder claims the Manchester City boss would hate it if one of his sides were producing the current football on show at Old Trafford.

City set the Premier League alight last term with scintillating displays to finish a whopping 19 points clear of second-placed United.

Scholes believes Mourinho’s squads are set up to grind out results rather than impress the fans.

And he thinks Guardiola would do things very differently if he were in the Old Trafford hotseat.

“(Mourinho) doesn’t look happy to me,” Scholes told beIN Sports.

“As a football person, if you’re a coach and you see your team playing – he may be happy [with the style of play].

“It’s a team who grind out results rather than really impresses you – and that’s probably what he is happy with, that’s where he has been at his best over the years.

“If Guardiola was manager of Manchester United he would hate what he was seeing – and it would be different.

“But, the most important thing to him is results, he will be judged on that.”

Mourinho, meanwhile, insists Manchester United are “not a team” yet following the 0-0 friendly draw with San Jose Earthquakes on Sunday night.

“We are not a team. We’re a group of players from different teams,” he told MUTV.

“Some are first-team, some under-23s, some coming from loans and going on loan, some are younger, under-18s.

“We don’t have a team to play much better than we did but [it’s] one more training session.”
