Chelsea transfer news: Real reasons Chelsea have signed just ONE player revealed

Jorginho is the only new arrival at Stamford Bridge during a summer of frustration for Blues fans.

Aleksandr Golovin could follow him from CSKA Moscow but a deal for the Russian is yet to be finalised.

Nizaar Kinsella, the Chelsea FC correspondent for Goal,ย  believes Chelsea haven’t completed more deals as they are waiting for other top clubs to do theirs – as they haven’t got the cash to compete.

“Deals still can be done and Chelsea typically operate at the end of the transfer market for a number of reasons,” Kinsella told Love Sport Radio.

“They are not top dogs in the transfer market anymore. They are not the biggest payers.

“They have to wait until other clubs do. Man City can go in and get their guy, Real Madrid and Barcelona have a tendency to do the same.

“Big clubs like Bayern Munich and Juventus, who dominate their leagues, do the same.

“But Chelsea are in a big six in English football and they’re not the richest among the big six.”

Boss Maurizio Sarri does not have just incomings to worry about, however.

Thibaut Courtois, Eden Hazard and Willian could all leave the club this summer following Chelsea’s failure to qualify for the Champions League.

Losing all three would be a devastating blow but Kinsella thinks one of them could be sold without too much effect.

“Courtois had an amazing World Cup but he wasn’t unbelievable last season for Chelsea. They could probably lose Courtois and not suffer too much from it,” he said.

“Courtois kind of wants to go and maybe it’s the right time. The contract situation with him – he’s only got one year left.

“He’s really pushing to go, he’s said it again and again in public in the media about Real Madrid, if he wants to go then let him go.

“Then it’s a case of Chelsea finding that replacement.”
