PUBG mobile DOWN: How long is PUBG down for? Why is PUBG down?

Highly popular online survival game PUBG currently is down for mobile players around the world.

Player Unknown’s BattleGrounds is a battle royale style game in which players can work in teams or solo in an attempt to be the last one standing.

The last player standing achieves the elusive ‘Chicken Dinner’.

Why is PUBG down?

Developer of PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds Tenecent have confirmed that currently downtime is in effect for mobile servers.

Creators are installing update 0.7.0 following extensive beta testing, for both iOS and Android, with all mobile servers currently offline.

It will be a lengthy period of maintenance, and could impact play for players heading into tonight.

The full message from Tencent reads: “PUBG Mobile will be taken offline for maintenance from 00:00 to 08:00 (UTC) on July 23.

“Service may resume sooner or later depending on maintenance progress.”

When will PUBG be back online?

The new PUBG update will be going live after the maintenence and server downtime is complete, although it is not clear how long this could take.

The maintenance notice stated that PUBG server downtime began at 12.00am UTC (1.00am BST), on July 23.

If the maintenance adheres to the timeline set by the support team, PUBG Mobile servers should be back up around 9am, BST.

However, there has been a 24 hour window left by Tencent to launch their update, so servers may not go live until July 24.

What’s in the update?

A new mode, weapon and UI mechanic are detailed in the available beta download on the Google Play Store.

The new mode is called War and is a quicker paced version of already existing Arcade Mode.

Currently on the beta, War Mode is only available during certain times, but this may just be a feature tested during the beta.

A new SLR Sniper Rifle will be available, as well as a portable Closet.

This Closet will enable players to alter their appearance whilst in an active game, which whilst available on other platforms isn’t available in PUBG mobile.

These are the official PUBG beta patch notes:

  • Arcade Mode – War – A new, faster-paced variation of Arcade mode.
  • New Weapon – Added the SLR Sniper Rifle.
  • Portable Closet – Players can now put outfits in their Portable Closets and instantly change clothes during combat.

Players will be hoping that the current patch won’t follow the routine of the previous ones, that have caused players to be unable to crossplay due to a delay.

In order to prevent this, the update is expected to go live on iOS and Android at the same time.

PUBG Mobile is a free-to-play game available to play on both iOS and Android, as well as via a PC emulator.
