The development team made a big announcement today over some free skins coming to all platforms.
As a way to celebrate the birthday of Fortnite’s release, Epic Games are launching new content for Battle Royale and Save the World modes.
These will be available to those who own the Fortnite Founders Pack for Save the World.
Two free skins will be included in the Fortnite 5.1 update, which is expected to arrive tomorrow, July 24.
This will include Fortnite Battle Royale skins that can be used in-game.
The Legendary Warpaint and Rose Team Leader Outfits have been selected by Epic Games, while other bonuses are also being prepared for Save the World fans.
“To thank you for your continued support, we’re dropping in two Legendary Founder’s Outfits that you’ll be able to equip in Battle Royale as part of our v5.1 release,” a message from Epic reads.
“These Outfits are exclusive to Save the World founders, both past and future.
“You’ll receive Warpaint and Rose Team Leader, along with exclusive Pursuit and Skirmish Back Bling!”
This is just the start of a new wave of birthday bonuses being planned by Epic Games, who recently revealed what was happening in a new blog post.
Starting July 24th, a new limited time in-game event begins for the birthday celebrations, where players will be able to earn special cosmetics.
This will be accomplished by completing birthday challenges and quests in-game.
“From the birthday Battle Bus to the sploder husks carrying a tasty surprise, we can’t wait to party with you! The in-game celebration lasts until August 7,” Epic confirms.
Each challenge you complete will unlock a slice of the birthday cosmetic set, with these challenges currently listed as coming to PS4, PC and Xbox One:
- Deal 1,000 damage to opponents to unlock the Fortnite Birthday! Emoticon
- Dance at different birthday cakes to unlock the Happy Birthday! Spray
- Play 14 matches to unlock 5,000 XP.
- Complete all 3 challenges to earn the Birthday Cake Back Bling
For those who play STW, you can complete the Fortnite Birthday questline in Save the World and earn the Birthday Brigade Ramirez Hero.
There will also be a way to Earn tickets to spend on Birthday Llamas which can contain Heroes and weapons from every event this year (not including quest rewards).
Epic Games have not confirmed when the Fortnite update 5.1 will be released, but it’s expected to go live tomorrow.
The development team usually provide some kind of announcement on when they will be setting a new patch live, so more could be shared in the coming hours.
It’s unclear at this time if downtime will be needed, however, if it is, you can expect it to start around 9am, BST.
This is the usual time that Epic Games uses for scheduled maintenance, with patch notes shared during the downtime.
As stated above, this new Fortnite update will be released on both Battle Royale and Save the World modes.
