Fortnite downtime and maintenance: Epic Games confirm new season 5 plans

It has now been confirmed that the development team have scheduled the Fortnite servers to go offline later this week.

From what has been confirmed by Epic Games, we now know that new Fortnite downtime and maintenance will commence tomorrow, July 19.

Thursdays have been the time when season 5 challenges have been released, and this will be the case tomorrow.

You can expect them to go live after the Fortnite downtime, which is scheduled to begin at 9am.

“Scheduled maintenance is planned for tomorrow, July 19. Downtime will begin at 4 AM ET (0800 GMT).”

It should be noted that while Epic Games say that maintenance will begin at 8am, GMT, because of the time difference this will actually mean servers going offline at 9am.

Players should also know that the development team usually start booting players from live servers around 20 minutes before scheduled maintenance begins.

So Fortnite fans on all platforms should be prepared for varying degrees of disruption tomorrow.

Epic Games haven’t confirmed why they have scheduled maintenance, or what might be included.

We already know that new challenges are coming to the game, and this doesn’t usually require servers to be taken offline.

No hints have been provided on what might be coming tomorrow, so it’s fair to reason that it might just be connected with servers.

Some players have flagged problems since the launch of season 5, so the Fortnite downtime could be in connection to that.

If there are any massive changes made, or some kind of new feature added, you can expect some kind of patch notes announcement to be made during downtime.

As mentioned above, Epic Games have made no indications that this is anything more than an update for the servers.

Fortnite downtime usually last a few hours and will affect players on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac and Mobile.

FORTNITE CHALLENGES WEEK 2

Some of the new Fortnite challenges have leaked for the battle pass in week 2, with “score a basket on different hoops” and “search between an oasis, rock archway and dinosaurs” some of the new tasks.

During Fortnite season 4 the Fortnite challenges leaked every weekend, however this season it’s different.

For Fortnite season 5 the Battle Pass challenges are being leaked every Tuesday ahead of the tasks officially going live on Thursdays.

The leaked Fortnite challenges are datamined from the Fortnite Battle Royale game files.

This means that, invariably, the Fortnite challenges are completely accurate.

However, occasionally Fortnite challenges leak early and become live in the Battle Pass at a later date.

As per usual the Fortnite leaked challenges were revealed in a post online by Fortnite Tracker.
