Google Pixel 3 XL UPDATE: Hopes raised HUGE Pixel 2 issue will fixed in time for new phone

Google are hard at work trying to resolve a major Pixel 2 issue, with fans left hoping it will be fixed before the Pixel 3 XL release date.

The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are arguably two of the most eagerly anticipated smartphones set to be released this year.

And the devices have been the subject of much speculation, with rumours the Pixel 3 XL could sport an iPhone X-style notch.

But Pixel fans will be hoping that Google addresses one flaw that affects their current flagship before the release of their next one.

Ever since the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL was released last year the devices have been affected by a fatal flaw, BGR reported.

The bug causes the camera app on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL to crash when users try to open it or take pictures.

Not everyone has been affected by the issue but Google have confirmed that they are “working on a fix”.

Over the weekend a Pixel 2 XL user expressed their frustration with the camera error on Twitter which Google quickly responded to.

The Made by Google Twitter account responded quickly and suggested the Pixel 2 XL owner put her phone in airplane mode to take a picture.

But the Pixel 2 XL user tweeted: “I’ve tried that already and it didn’t work.

“I’ve also put my phone into safe mode to see if another app is affecting it and I did a factory reset but nothing has worked.

“I’ve only had the phone for 3 or 4 months so it’s really odd!”

The Made By Google Twitter account then replied to say that they are looking into the issue.

They tweeted: “Understood. We’re aware of this issue and are looking into it.

“As a workaround, try temporarily putting your phone in airplane mode and then try to take a photo again. Keep us posted.”

Reports of the camera app issue started emerging weeks within the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL launch on Reddit.

In the post one user wrote: “I’ve had the same error quite a few times. Sometimes the camera won’t take a picture, just freeze and crash, and sometimes it will take a picture, but it will be faulty.”

While another wrote: “Looks like a common issue.”

One added: “Oh yes. It sucks”.

And one posted: “Anyone knows how to fix this”.

Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL fans will be hoping the issue is fixed soon and that the problem doesn’t pop up again with the upcoming Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.

Google are rumoured to be working on the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL right now with a reveal on the new Android devices expected in October.

That is when Google has historically held unveiling events for their Pixel handsets, with a release date soon following.
