Kingdom Hearts 3 update: PlayStation fans treated to BIG news about new sequel

Kingdom Hearts 3 fans might want to grab this month’s issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is the cover story in the latest edition of the magazine (via Gamingbolt).

As part of the feature, game director Tetsuya Nomura reveals how Rapunzel’s hair can be used to aid traversal and combat.

That’s on top of new details about the Keyblade transformations in the Tangled world, not to mention Mirage Staff transformation.

Likewise, the Kingdom Hearts director talks about a boss fight against a Zurg-themed Heartless spaceship in the Toy Story world, and about the Gummi Ship.

Kingdom Hearts 3 recently scored a surprise victory over the Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Express Online put the popularity of Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake to the test in a recent poll.

At the time, more than 4.6k people had taken the poll, which asked readers to specify which Square Enix game they were most looking forward to.

Perhaps surprisingly, 51% of the votes went to Kingdom Hearts 3, compared to 49% for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake has since clawed it back, scoring 52% of the votes in the weeks since. The current score is based on more than 14.2k votes.

That’s at the time of writing, although it’s worth pointing out that the poll is still open. You can vote for yourself by checking out the poll below…

While the release date remaining a mystery, all eyes will be on Square Enix at E3 2018.

And a recent tweet on the Japanese Square Enix Twitter fan page suggests that the Kingdom Hearts 3 release date is in line for an E3 reveal.

It’s believed that the company’s Osaka studio is working on the game, plus 100 people from Square’s Tokyo studio.

Fingers crossed Kingdom Hearts 3 comes out in 2018, before the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Remake next year.
